Who is Dr. Huntley?

I am a clinical psychologist with a boutique practice in Encinitas focused on providing the highest quality psychological assessments. I fell in love with assessments in graduate school when doing special education evaluations.

I decided to focus my postdoctoral training and beyond on developing expertise in neuro-educational and psychological evaluations. I am passionate about helping people understand themselves or their children better. I work with individuals and families to gain a compassionate understanding about how someone’s brain works or how their life experiences and personality might explain their problems. Together, we use these findings to create an action plan about how to best support someone at school, at home, in relationships, and in life.

I have specialized training in neuro-educational evaluations and psychological assessments from my training conducting special educational evaluations, from a fellowship focused on child and adolescent assessment, and from my work in private assessment practices. Through this diverse assessment training, I have worked with a variety of kids, teens, and adults to figure out why they might be struggling in a certain area and what to do about it.

My evaluations offer so much more than a diagnosis. They create a holistic view of someone with detailed insights into their strengths and weaknesses. I use these insights to create tailored recommendations for school and home life. Neuropsychological tests, like those measuring problem-solving, memory, attention, executive functioning, or language processing, help me see how people think and process. Psychological tests tell me about people’s emotions, behavior, coping skills, relationship style, and views of themselves. I integrate these powerful tools to create a unique, tailored assessment plan to answer your referral questions. Regardless of diagnosis, you get a complete psychological profile to help explain whatever brought you in. My evaluations are truly comprehensive, leaving no stone left unturned.

I am dedicated to supporting people with learning differences, attentional problems, neurodiverse ways of processing, giftedness, and emotional or behavioral difficulties so that they can improve their quality of life and reach their true potential. I believe assessments have therapeutic power to help people increase insight and compassion about their experiences.

In addition to my clinical practice, I work with my local alma mater to help train the next generation of assessment psychologists. I teach doctoral students a course in cognitive assessment and supervise psychology trainees as they learn to practice the art and science of psychological assessment.

When not at work, I love spending time with my family. Being a mom to two little kids has informed how I work with kids and parents in more ways than I thought possible!
